At Sorrento Saints, we recognise that umpires play an essential role in the game and are valued members of our club. We are committed to developing confident, knowledgeable and capable umpires by providing a supportive environment where they can learn, grow and progress through their umpiring journey.

Whether you are just starting out or working towards a nationally recognised badge, our club provides opportunities to develop your skills and gain valuable on-court experience.

Umpire Development

We are proud to have a knowledgeable and experience pool of mentor umpires who provide guidance, coaching and feedback throughout the season.

Our umpire development program includes:

  • Ongoing mentoring and coaching
  • Rule interpretation and practical learning opportunities
  • Match observations nad constructive feedback
  • Support to build confidence and game management skills
  • Encouragement to attend education sessions and development opportunities

Saints has a strong working relationship with WDNA and actively supports umpires to pursue badging when they have demonstrated the skills, knowledge and readiness to progress.

Game Allocations

Umpire allocations are managed by the Umpire Coordinator and are based on a range of factors, including:

  • Experienced and accreditiation level
  • Demonstrated capability and confidence
  • Skill development goals
  • Match requirements and competition level

Our aim is to provide appropriate opportunities that both support the development of our umpires and ensure a positive experience for players.

Umpire Payments

Club umpires are remunerated in accordance with the umpire payment schedule set by WDNA.

Payment rates are reviewed by WDNA and are applied consistently across the competition.
