Welcome to the 2020 Season

Welcome to 2020 season – finally!  We have just this week had confirmation that there will be netball season this year! Exciting times.

There is a lot of information below and we ask that you read this then complete the short survey – one for each registered player – so that we can plan for the season ahead. Please complete the survey by Sunday 24 May if possible.  SURVEY AVAILABLE HERE

The season will start on the weekend of Friday 26 June. There will be 10 games then finals in September, being 2 rounds of 5 games, which includes games during the July school holidays.

As you can appreciate there are a number of restrictions that we must all abide by in order to be able to play this winter.  We will be required to complete attendance registers, restrict the access for parents and spectators and implement hygiene protocols.

At this stage no one other than players, coaches, team officials, and umpires will be allowed at games – that means no parents, no spectators, no children or siblings.  Parents may walk their child to the court then they must leave the grounds until the end of the game.

Like everything at this time, these requirements are subject to change – and we hope this changes before we start playing – but we must comply with the current requirements of NWA, WDNA and City of Wanneroo in order to participate as a club.

Another major restriction is that not all courts at WDNA are available for matches and for this reason WDNA have fixtured games on Friday and Monday evenings to enable maximum participation.

Game times as currently fixtured as below.  Note these may be subject to change.

Friday 7.30pm 13 & under

Saturday 10.00am 15 & under (high div’s)

11.30am 15 & under (lower div’s)

1.00pm 18 & under

2.30pm Opens

4.00pm Opens

Monday 6.00pm 12 and under

Game times will be reduced to 12 minute quarters in order to be able to clear the venue between each time slot.

Given it will be a shorter season there is reduction in fees for players. The fees for playing with Sorrento Saints for the 2020 season are now:

Seniors (everyone 18 and over) $275

Juniors (everyone under 18) $260

Any player who has paid more than this for the 2020 season will be refunded the difference.  Please complete the bank details question in the survey to receive your refund.

Children 18 and under whose parent has a Health Care or Pensioner Concession Card, or experiencing financial hardship, may be eligible to apply for Kidsport funding to assist with fees.  More information is available on the DSR website:  https://www.dlgsc.wa.gov.au/funding/sport-and-recreation-funding/kidsport

Please email treasurer@sorrentosaints.com if you have, or intend, to apply for Kidsport funding.

We understand that some people’s circumstances may have changed since registration and grading so we are asking that EVERY registered player please complete the survey questions so that as a club we can assess our membership and team allocations in plenty of time to report to WDNA and NWA.

Any player who must withdraw from the 2020 season may request to have any fees paid refunded (including the $150 registration deposit) minus an amount of $30 in order to cover direct costs incurred by the club for the 2020 season to date.  Please complete the bank details question in the survey to receive your refund.

Training can start at WDNA the week of 1 June but more details about training will be sent as soon as we have an amended training schedule to allow for the restrictions in place.

Thank you everyone for your patience and continued support at this time.  We’re looking forward to seeing everyone on court very soon!

REMINDER: Please complete the SURVEY HERE ASAP.
